180,000$ in support of a scandium mining exploration project on the Côte-Nord
08 April 2025
Scandium Canada Ltd has received financial assistance of $180,000 from the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF). The Minister of Natural Resources and Forests, Ms. Maïté Blanchette Vézina, made the announcement today through a press release.
With this financial support, Scandium Canada will carry out a geological study to better understand a specific area within the geological formation of the Crater Lake project. The objective of this study is to better guide drilling efforts and to define a higher grade resource using an improved mineral processing method for the extraction of scandium—a critical and strategic mineral (CSM)—as well as rare earth elements present at the project site.
“We would like to warmly thank the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests for its financial support of our Crater Lake project. Scandium is a key element in today’s advanced materials. With its unique properties, scandium plays a crucial role in enhancing aluminum alloys and advanced technologies, thereby driving innovation across many industrial sectors. For Quebec, the development of the Crater Lake project represents a unique strategic opportunity to position itself as a key player in the high performance materials sector, particularly in the aluminum industry, thus fostering the province’s economic and technological growth.”
— Guy Bourassa, Chief Executive Officer, Scandium Canada Ltd.
